Billions of ComradesRondate
ABOUT THE RELEASE
Three years after the release of their critically acclaimed debut album Grain, Tubize, BE, band Billions Of Comrades are back with a new album, Rondate.
These new tracks show the band’s rougher edge, while also presenting the band at its most mature and experimental.
The band describes the concept of Rondate as « an impulse, that bit of energy needed to break free from a cyclical situation, to evolve and to move on. »
To wit : the album’s opening track, “Echidna« , brings light to the band’s dark universe: a progressive track somewhere between new wave and post punk. From there, the second track “Minor” effortlessly melds math-rock and electronic music into a new, addictive entity.
For Rondate, Billions of Comrades continued to work with the same team as Grain : a collaboration with Black Basset Records and producer Gilles Mortiaux. But while Grain had been defined by the band’s intense touring, Rondate was written spontaneously, relying on the in-studio chemistry between the band’s members.
Indeed, the “playground” — as the band likes to define every recording session — has allowed a more instinctive approach. “It’s the second time we have worked with Gilles, and we know we can trust his judgement”, say the band. « There were so many unknown factors to tackle when we entered the studio that we decided to 100% trust his judgement. With Gilles bringing his own understanding of our work to the fore, even we were surprised by our own tracks« .
Featuring sophisticated instrumental work and a fresh sense of urgency, Rondate presents Billions of Comrades as an eclectic modern band with a powerful edge over its musical peers.
